[Albert has been studying the keyboards of the laptops as of late, having taken more interest in the devices with the setup of the console in the tunnels. He had copied the keyboard interface onto a few sheets of paper, studying the sheets in turn and trying to learn about each button's uses.

Suffice it to say, he has not been paying attention to any noise coming from the kitchen. When he emerges from his room, the smell of Raine's earlier creation promptly assaults him.]

[She still hasn't figured out what to do with it, so that earlier creation is pushed off to the far side of the counter. In an effort to not tweak with the more appealing (but somehow more boring) cake, Raine's been occupying herself at the kitchen table with working on her lists and monitoring the journals as she waits.]

[Intending to cook dinner, Albert makes his way towards the kitchen from the back bedroom hallway. He considers opening the windows to get the ... interesting smell out, but he'll have to see what Raine is doing first (and how far along in the cooking process she is).]

[Raine tends to get rather absorbed by work of any kind, so she doesn't really even notice his approach until he's practically in the kitchen. She blinks a little, lifting her head up towards the kitchen doorway, carefully closing her book.]

[Albert looks back at Raine as he enters the kitchen, glancing around in search of the telltale mess that Raine's cooking usually leaves behind. He's a bit surprised not to see anything of the sort.]

[She nods to him.] ... Hello, Albert.

[He furrows a brow.] Were you cooking?

Hm? [She rises, and moves towards the counter.] Yes, I was, actually... and Genis helped as well. Are you hungry?

Genis is up and about already? [He seems mildly surprised by that, considering the boy's age and ... well, how Malnosso kidnappings can be. Not to mention Raine's stance on resting while hurt.]

I was going to see to dinner.

He shouldn't be. He just came wandering in on his own, but I sent him back to bed not too long ago...

Hm... all right. But first -- I have a surprise, actually. Though it's more of a dessert...

Very good. He can take over the kitchen again after he feels better.

...A surprise? [He doesn't recall any occasion in need of a surprise. The last thing Genis needs right now is something keeping him up.]

[She moves and takes the covering off of the small cake that she and Genis made, lifting the plate up and moving back towards the table]

It's a cake. It serves two purposes, although I think the first should be obvious enough ...
