Zelda had been dozing for about an hour, trying in vain to read a book on American history and failing miserably. She finally succumbed to sleep, curling up on the couch with her head on the arm and, yes, she snored.

Chase, finishing the dishes from the dinner Zelda made, steps into the living room, drying his hands. "I thought with the weather nice we might want to--"

He stops, smiling to himself at the sight of her draped over the couch and lightly snoring.

Zelda startled, looking around for a minute and looking suspiciously like a meerkat.

"Oh? I am sorry, I fell asleep, I think."

Chase chuckles, heading over to drop a kiss on her temple. "I think you did. Don't let me stop you-- you're adorable."

Zelda blinked, rubbing her eyes. "I am sorry. I woke up early today, is all."

He can't resist-- laughing, he kisses her suddenly.

"Zelda," he says, pulling back and shooting her a smile. "I love you."

"I know, but what I have done exactly to precipitate this?" she asked, amused.

"I-- well, you were cute. It's--" Chase shrugs, frustrated. "You're irresistible."

[wisdomsage]

"Come here, Robert," she said, motioning him down. "I wish to, what do you call it? Snog?"

Chase chuckles, sinking beside her on the couch. Pulling Zelda into his lap, he kisses her deeply. "Anything for you, princess."

"We have not spent much time together lately," Zelda observed, stroking his hair. "I miss you, Robert."

"I miss you too," he mutters. "The portal's been a little hectic." He kisses her again, arms wrapping around her. "I've missed just sitting with you, no rush for anything."

Zelda smiled warmly. "You were an adorable child, though."

[blondewombat]

Chase makes a face. "I was a brat. I'm surprised House didn't try to drown me." He pulls her tight, muttering, "Thank you, again. I-- I can't thank you enough."

"I was not so very good," she whispered back. "I understand why you do not want children yet."

[blondewombat]

"You were magnificent," Chase assures her. "You took care of me, you protected me. Zelda, you'll be a remarkable mother-- our children will be lucky to have you."

[wisdomsage]

Zelda smiled brightly. "I am glad you think so. It was hard, but rewarding," she said, kissing him softly. "Barring the incestuous implications, I do wish I was your mother. I would have loved you."
