Hope

Everywhere I turned yesterday, I saw hope...I was at St. Judes getting off the elevator looking at the floor so that I would not step in the vomit where a patient had gotten sick and almost bumped into a girl. On her tee-shirt in big bold letters H O P E. I go the the cafe to get a bite to eat, a purse carried by a woman. On the straps, the word HOPE. A different girl wearing a different tee-shirt. Guess what it had written on it? HOPE.

At school, I go to one of the last 2 lectures that I have to attend before graduation (students must have attended 18 during the course of their school). What is the topic...HOPE. Here are some of the quotes from the lecture...
"Hope has proved as important as any medicine."
"Hope can change the course of a malady and heal."
"When I come across hope, its like an oasis in the desert."
"Hope is hammered out during adversity. The greater the adversity, the greater the hope."

Hmmm. Ray said he had hope.

I am reading Sister Helen Prejean's book "Dead Man Walking" for a class assignment. The place she works in New Orleans is called "Hope House"

I don't know what this means, but I have hope that I will find out.
