[bsc] book 39+SS5, a distinct lack of gay

Mar 30, 2006 19:20

So if, hypothetically, I phone-posted dramatic readings of Baby-Sitters Club chapters, which books/chapters/passages would people vote for? (Bonus points if you choose something I'm unable to read without giggling or shouting "OMG SO GAY!")

Recently read:
#39, Poor Mallory! This is another one where I have very little to say because I liked it so ( Read more... )

bsc, alcoholism

You know, even though I know the secret thing, in context, is supposed to mean they're so close they share everything, out of context right there it looks like they are just a group of mega-bitches who can't keep their mouths shut and who actively work to tear each other down. Odd.

I'm encouraging the dramatic readings, but I have no suggestion for subject. Will have to reread some and think about this.

Hey, I read #39 last night! :D (And, having grown up with an alcoholic dad, my mind went "EEEP!" at the Glass of Something.)

I read SS #5 awhile ago and had a small problem with the girls winning the lottery (I mean...oy), but overall, I just didn't care much for the book. The characterization of Mallory drove me up the wall. (LOL at your version of the Stacey story, given Stacey and the Bad Girls, #80something.)

Re: the California club. Do you have Dawn and the We <3 Kids Club? Jill and Sunny and Maggie are all in that, quite a bit. (And I have yet to read the California Diaries. I'm assuming--from one spoilery title later on--that Dawn goes back to CA for good, and the spinoff books follow her ( ... )

Also, more for The Theory:
"Ann’s best friend Beth Perkins was the prototype for Kristy’s character, whereas Ann thinks of herself as being the most like Mary Anne. ( http://members.aol.com/jonmerrill/bscchap11.htm )

Best friend crush? :)
