Lovely and bittersweet and multi-layered. I love the imagery and the descriptions of meditation and the perspective of Daniel's dreams. I love how they come to each other from these places of separate, isolated suffering and find a personal/spiritual unity before they take it to bed. (Sorry they had to have a few drinks first, but that gives it a pleasant blurry buzziness. *g* And it seems clear that they'd have gotten there anyway.) 'the magnetic pull and pulse' -- mmm. The way you weave in the different kinds of blending and the different kinds of loss.

Jack's reaction seems nicely realistic to me, including the sense I get that he's letting himself be persuaded to keep it off the record. It also seems realistic that he doesn't join in, even tho that's very sad, and I really, really like the 'alliance between our chosen allies' angle and how that gives Jack(/Asgard) another way in and he still says no.

Love the fierce anger and near-violence of the Teal'c/Daniel kiss. And the relationship Teal'c has to his symbiote. And the way the multiple-pov structure and the physical joining at the end amplify the conceit of joining/blending and blended/discrete identities. It all gives a very woven feeling, a kind of tapestry. Nice. :-)

Ohhh, this is the kind of feedback I crave. Thank you so much.

(Sorry they had to have a few drinks first, but that gives it a pleasant blurry buzziness. *g* And it seems clear that they'd have gotten there anyway.)

Ack, you know, I didn't even realize that. I wanted them off-base and was hitting the end of the fic homestretch, all I need is one good sex scene and I'll be golden, and it didn't even occur to me that I'd gotten them drunk for first-time sex, which is a cliché I could do without. But I did enjoy writing tipsy!Sam in the final scene.

Jack's reaction seems nicely realistic to me, including the sense I get that he's letting himself be persuaded to keep it off the record.

Yes, totally. I think so too. I think Jack totally doesn't get it, but they are his teammates and can do no wrong. And he's looking for a way to be able to justify it to himself to let them continue.

It also seems realistic that he doesn't join in, even tho that's very sad,

I was very sad that I didn't get to make this OT4 for Meg. Actually, when I got the assignment gave myself the assignment, my only problem was trying to figure out why Jack didn't join in. It was a fun challenge to find reasons/emotions/a scenario that the other three can share and Jack doesn't. Going the spiritual/metaphysical route helped with that.

and I really, really like the 'alliance between our chosen allies' angle and how that gives Jack(/Asgard) another way in and he still says no.

I love their various chosen allies SO MUCH and have probably a huge essay on that, how each of them has a species/race their plotlines are most associated with and how that plays into their personality and gah! I couldn't help but put it in the OT3.

Love the fierce anger and near-violence of the Teal'c/Daniel kiss.

Yes. Especially so soon after FiaD, this relationship was the hardest to write and needed to be more fraught than the other two.

And the way the multiple-pov structure and the physical joining at the end amplify the conceit of joining/blending and blended/discrete identities. It all gives a very woven feeling, a kind of tapestry.

Eee, thanks so much! (I'm having a ball looking at all the fics that have come out of this 'thon and how they handle that blending, especially which points of view get employed. I love writing OT3/threesomes because of the way the blending works.

So I'm really glad that it came out well, all the different angles... *squeeee*

Thanks ever so much for reading and giving such detailed feedback. :)

lol! It really did give the last scene a dreaminess appropriate to the tone of the rest of the story, and it just worked out that way, and that's totally cool.

That is so, so fascinating. I'd love to read that essay! And more fic working through it. Neat.

I'm having a ball reading the 'thon stories too. Great stuff. Kudos for organizing.
