"Bad Timing"

[spoilers for EVERYTHING, h0rz. Mostly for this ep though. ETA, June 30, 2005. No miniseries spoilers, it hadn't aired yet[/eta]]

I feel the urge to divide this into two sections: the actual episode, and the pastede on ending.

So:

The Episode:
This is just beauty. I don't like it as much as I like "We're So Screwed," because it feels less... vital. I don't know. The issues at stake are naturally hugely important: sealing off Earth, Scarrans invading, etc... but somehow it seems less epic. Possibly because there's so little actual interaction with the bad guys. You really want the Last Episode Ever to feel epic... I like this episode, but it's definitely not my favorite.

I am developing a love-hate relationship with J/A. I love it when it's at its frelled-est, but at times like right now, when it's happy giddy baby and marriage? Please no? This is one pairing I don't want to end happily. Not really.

D'Argo/Chiana like whoa. Shiny.

I really like Chiana going permanently blind. I love Chiana's arc, although I have thoughts about supernaturally evolving/aging a character by means of giving her a Special Gift. (See also, Cordelia Chase.) But that's a whole 'nother rant.

I really like Stark here, and Noranti. I wonder if they're aiming for Noranti/Stark? For the obvious reasons? I wouldn't totally object to that, although I miss Zhaan soooo much. I have absolutely no idea if Virginia Hey signed on for any cameos in the miniseries... please don't tell me if you do know either way, but God, I hope so.

Anyhow. Pilot. Pilot is just the ass-kickingest of the ass-kickers.

Okay. Finishing up the arcs here. I think we can all agree the flowers were pastede on unyay! and leave it at that? But now that they've got them... I don't know. This episode felt too personal for closing up such a huge impersonal arc.

Closing up the Earth arc, however, was... well, I don't know. It needed to be personal, but again, it was so hurried. Although since that really was the point, I forgive them.

Jack/John. Theirloveissoincest... *going to the special hell*

Ahem. Obligatory Braca squee...

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Braca is so ridiculously in love with Scorpius it's not funny. I really want to know what those two are up to. And if Scorpy really did kill Sikozu please thank you? Yeah. But they've definitely got a plan of some sort... although I'm sort of shocked that Scorpius so misjudged John. You'd think after all these years he'd know him better....

All right. End of the episode, except for...

The Extremely Pastede On Unyay! Ending:

I must admit I've only seen the last one minute and 54 seconds (and yes, I timed it) of this episode twice: the first time I watched it, and just now. It was just too painful to watch it when we didn't know for sure about the miniseries. But now we know.

And I still think the ending is pastede on.

It could have been such a sweet ending. They had some loose ends, but they'd tied up all the internal arcs of the episode, and J/A were all engaged, and Chi/D'Argo were frelling again, and Stark was at peace... but then they went and killed them both.

Why?

Why do the Farscape writers insist on having a cliffhanger every season? Even when, as in this case, it literally comes out of nowhere? What does this tell us about life, about human nature, about... anything? It's just entirely random. Stupid. Pointless.

And the thing is they don't need a new villain at this point. Okay, so they killed some Scarrans... there are still the PKs out there. Still Scorpy/Braca. Who are these villains, and why were the pastede on very unyay? *growls*

*gives DK the middle finger*

I suppose we find out on Sunday night... which reminds me.

Everyone watch the miniseries!!!!!

Dinner how, and praying for the Red Sox tonight... c'mon, Boston! Loosing the series in four games won't break our hearts! You need to give us hope, so it can be cruelly crushed in the ninth inning of game seven! Haven't you learned anything?

PS: Last night I dreamed that the major issue in this November's election was inter-galactic diplomacy. This is why you shouldn't wake up in the middle of the night to watch "We're So Screwed."

Or maybe it's why you should. :p
