Part of the list I forgot

On all three days of the con, I wore something I made myself!

On Friday, I wore Arm Candy, which I knit. I should remember to just put sunscreen in my pocket wherever I wear it. I always forget it exposes both a lot of cleavage and a fair amount of back. In the evening, I switched to the corset LT made me and the skirt which I just finished. The skirt is like... a garment. I mean, it fit, and was not obviously homemade, and the zipper really was fucking invisible (Ilu, invisible zipper). I am making an Easter skirt out of the same pattern and very different material. It's not a complicated garment, but I feel like I executed really well. Note to self, though, investigate hem lace*.**

On Saturday, I wore the purple shirtdress I made. I keep wanting to tweak it. But it was awfully fun to have a dress with pockets. Also, the pettipants/slip thing is awesome, in that I stop feeling like I have to act like a lady just because I'm wearing a skirt.

On Sunday, I wore the first sweater I ever made for myself, a wrap-around style sweater from Stephanie Japhel's book. I was deeply amused that no fewer than 3 people identified it on sight.

*Can I just say how much I love the way the crafting community has adopted youtube? I found a beautiful demonstration of the mysterious "catch stitch" within 30 seconds.

**What I really want is a rolled hem foot. I wonder if the sewing machine wizards in Renton have one for my machine. Or maybe I should ask the internets.
