Pretty successful weekend

Friday, lovely people came down, and we watched How To Train Your Dragon, which was still charming the third time, and the extra short was FRICKIN HILARIOUS. Also there was apple cake. For those wondering, Kay got me rockabilly cherry earrings, and Baz got me the updated Pirates of the Caribbean.

Saturday I slept in, and then fed the kids lunch. Then I ran errands for myself (although it was the WRONG DAY to try to go to the u-district via I-5). Then my mom and I went shopping, and I made out like a bandit. I have probably a whole week of dressing without hating all my clothes. For posterity:
* Grey jeans (and I lead on the much-desired grey cords)
* Blue tweed two-button jacket with copper embroidery (destined to be a key part of my steampunk wardrobe I think)
* Black pointe knit asymetrical jacket with zippers that make it awesome. Also, it might be a little 80's.
* Blue ombre tunic length knit top
* Purple sweater with fake collar. I've sworn enmity against these hybrid shirts, but there is something to be said for "toss it on and go"
* Grey tiny-pleated knit skirt, tea-length
* Fitted white button-down shirt. It is cunning, in that there is an underarm panel of knit fabric. It makes the woven fabric feel so much better fitted. BRILLIANT. Also sil says it is what I would wear if I were Jamie Hyneman. LT says he's right, and it goes with the canvas corset for my lady-adventurer costume.
* Charcoal and white striped button-down with plunge neck and bias placket and 3/4 sleeves. sil says it's kind of dykey. If it makes me look more like Rachel Maddow, I am for it.
* Argyle cardigan in fuschia, purple, and grey. Mom was deeply skeptical about this, but it's part of my aspirational move toward more retro/rockabilly. I have a tendency to dress for work sort of nicely, but it's professional, and not fun!pop!wow. But she's wrong, it was awesome. Except the sleeves are too short.

Sunday the kids and I went to church (where Baz may or may not have climbed on the roof at church, grr-face). I also did a bunch of committee stuff and interpersonal stuff. Then the kids and I stopped to buy more hangers. Yay, hangers! When I came home, sil fed me and I had a nap. In the evening, I mostly made the kids do homework and worked on the kitchen.

Tonight I went to church lady sewing and finished Baz's hoodie made with dinosaur fabric. I'll get pictures of him in it. I thought about putting a kangaroo pocket, but they're harder to freehand draft than you'd think. It's not in the pattern anyway. sil is supposed to get me plaid to make the kids warmer ones, now that I have the pattern sorted.
