So.... close..... Stay on target.....!
I am at the last cable cross on the last tie. All that's left for this sweater is weaving in the ends and a light blocking. It's silk, so it's not going to block much, but I'd like to wash some of the vinegar smell out. Also, my dire feelings on the fuzziness of single-plyed yarn were correct, and it's been jammed in my bag a lot, so it needs a little love from the sweater stone.
On the very big upside, I put it on to test the tie length (I could have gone shorter, but what's a foot between friends?). My charming husband immediately offered to take it off for me again, in an expeditious manner. I declined his offer, but I think this bodes well for the fit. YAY.
In an ideal world, the sleeves would be just a couple rows longer, but really, they fit about like the sleeves on every piece of clothing I own. Also I realized that I made a mistake when I started that last cable section, but I am not (do you hear me) going back to fix the 3 rows of purling to 5. Whatever. However, modding the length a bit longer was totally the right move, as was skipping the lace/eyelet theme. I swatched it like that, but hated the way the yarn (very different from the pattern yarn, albeit at the same gauge) looked with holes in it. It was like the pony beads of lace knitting.
I hope to finish the tie-end on my way home tonight, weave in the ends waching tv, and have it washed and blocking by the time I go to bed. There are only about, um 10 ends. Maybe 14, given Squishy's Evening of Evil.
eeee! This is my first adult garment (as opposed to accessory). I have a couple little accessories lined up, but... I did it! I have this crazy urge to run out and knit Mermaid now. (probably an order of magnitude more difficult, and a hubristic thought).
I started a couple days after my surgery. I haven't been in a super-fast knitting mode, but we'll call it about two months. I haven't really worked on anything else in that time. Now I know how long it takes me to knit a sweater.
