Yesterday, I got comics in the mail, and then comics from the file. Mmmm. Lucky me.
Last night, Kay and I went to the drive-in. It was really cool hanging out with her. The trailer for Hancock looks AWESOME. The first show was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. it was exactly what I expected. What a great romp. Also, Cate Blanchett is fucking hilarious. The second show was Prince Caspian. The drive-in picture quality is a bit lacking, so there was a flight-by-night (dark) and a night battle (dark), but I thought the acting was impressive (well, Lucy acted young, but I suppose that's the point). I loved Peter and Susan, though. Aslan did not make me giggle too much. There is only so much you can do with a giant talking lion. I was sort of sad that the thing missing from Caspian-the-movie was the 'being hungry and grubby'. Squishy bear, indeed. But overall, I thought the transition and changes were handled well. Kay fell asleep about half an hour into Indy, thankfully. We got home at 3 AM.
This morning, I took the kids to skating lessons. Kay is really coming along nicely. No crying today, despite the fact that her FEET MOVE. She gamely stomped up and down the floor. Yay! Baz continues his good progress. It was satisfying. Then we went to the farmer's market to indulge in seasonal produce and the ritual spending of allowances. The asparagus is lovely. We bought lollipops at See's. Kay learned a hard lesson - ie unwrapping and licking the lollipop means you're stuck with it. We bought a tomato plant, but it did not survive the trip, sadly.
Then I came home and fell the hell over for hours. I didn't even have lunch. Boom.
I got up and made an elaborate dinner. It took forever and no one ate it, but it was tasty, I thought. Chicken pot pie with spring vegetables. Young carrots, asparagus, herbed buttermilk biscuit topping.
Then the kids and I watched a few cartoons and it was bedtime.
Very nice. Now I am sitting here watching bad tv and stocking up on my introvert time.
