As I was falling asleep on Tuesday night, I put my sock wars socks on. Because they were there, and because they were soft. Before my last round of jobsearching,
ailie sent me good-luck socks, and now it seemed fortuitous that I had other lucky socks.
I fell asleep rubbing my feet together and thinking happy sock thoughts.
As I mentioned earlier, it was a really long day, filled with tons of being polite and perky. One of the calls that woke me up from my car-nap was my recruiter letting me know that 45 minutes after I'd walked out of the interview at
Stellent, they wanted to make me an offer. The rest of that day and today has been wrangling around how much they could give me. I knew I wanted the job, but I didn't want to take less money than we really need.
This afternoon, they emailed the documents.
They are offering me:
(the bottom of) a figure in my salary range.
3 weeks vacation + sick leave + paid vacations
Flex hours
UI training and (some) tuition reimbursement
Full benefits
4000 stock options, vesting over 4 years
They don't offer bus cards outright, but they do let you pay for them pre-tax
And their IP agreement does not claim that they will own my poetry
But importantly, it's a place I think I will enjoy working. The people are smart and fun, I would own a product
this one, or part of it, if I understood correctly, and it's a permanent job.
Hopefully we can find some place affordable, say in Kent or Renton, and cut my commute down to something manageable by humans.
But look! Job!
My last day here is Oct. 27, and my poor manager is hyperventilating. Hopefully boss-lady will soothe him down.
No rest for the wicked, though, I think. I start at Stellent on the 30th.
Happy birthday to me.
