Things happening this morning

I totally rocked the bus nap this morning. Evidently, there was construction between Sumner and Auburn. Better him than me, I say. And then because we were so late, the 565 was running right ahead of us. I'm sure it was crowded, but I had all sorts of room to sprawl out and sleep.

Dad's at work this morning. Yes, work. This is exciting. It is his first day as assistant postmaster at the Mineral post office. The postmistress is running the statewide United Way campaign, and is frequently gone. The current assistant is off to New Zealand soon. This is such a perfect job for dad. Room for creativity, lots of human contact, and doing something meaningful.

In less cheerful news, he almost fell yesterday because of the neuropathy in his feet. When it first came up, while he was hospitalized for the blood clot, the doctors told him it would go away. But when he complained to his PCP, he found out it was a possible side-effect of the heparin. While I'm glad that dad did not die of the blood clot, I am very troubled by the real threat to his already compromised mobility. I guess you never notice how much you feel with your feet until you don't. Anyway, this afternoon he is off to Madigan for a review of his disability status. The contention is that the neuropathy is a result of the original injury to his knee, 38 years ago. If he hadn't been injured, they would not have performed surgery on his knee. Without the surgery, his veins might still trace a straight route through his knee. If his veins were normal, he wouldn't have gotten the clot. If he hadn't gotten the clot, no heparin.

Whaddya think, is Castro dead/dying?

Ari has been retrieved from the vet. His surgery does not appear to be fazing him much, as he was being a fierce jungle kitten when I talked to sil. Then Ari tried to defeat a space jellyfish on the ceiling of the carrier and fell over. Sounds like our kind of cat.

Workety work work.
