Blogathon post #44: One very short scene

Aug 01, 2010 06:29

What it says on the tin. I think I've used that phrase already this Blogathon. BUT OH WELL.

"Realian maintenance?" Allen asks as Shion closes off the call. "They really should stop calling you all the time. Technically it's a violation of regulations for you to deal with other divisions. Besides, aren't they expecting you on the bridge?"

Shion rolls her eyes at him--subtle, but there. He's letting his mouth run off again--what he really wants to say, he supposes, is you have enough work, Shion, take some time off and take care of yourself for once...

She calls him mom often enough.

"Don't worry about it," she says with an easy shrug. "I don't want to leave them hanging. Besides, it's on the way, and I've got some time. See ya!" She turns and trots off, faster than he expected. He throws a hand out, as if he could catch her with a thought, starts to say something, and then realizes what he'd forgotten.

"Oh, duh. I'd wanted to ask her to hang out or something after work." He's muttering out loud. Old habit of his. Like he cares who hears him at this point. He droops, shakes his head, feeling like a dunce, and slinks back off to the lab.
