Requisite Utopia reaction post

Yeah, I don't do reaction posts often, and most of my immediate reaction to this episode consisted of screaming like a little girl for the next half hour. (To my credit, the rest of my watching group did so as well.)

Two things, both cut for spoilers:

Fun with BDSM subtext, Doctor goes meta, and a few other random comments. )

HOLY CRAP that was your first episode? Wheeeeeeee!

I strongly recommend just watching the whole series of both. (Well, skip episode 9 of Torchwood, according to everybody, and there are some skippable episodes in the second season of Who.) The first season of Who gives you a wonderfully plotted story arc, and the Ninth Doctor, who is broody goodness, and Jack; the second season gives you the beginnings of Ten, and some amazing individual episodes even though the over arc is, er, nonexistent. Torchwood is really, really uneven, but when it's good it's good, and it gives you more Jack and his very cute Welsh fuckbuddy (though not as much as you might expect) and a lot of wonderfully screwy other characters. And the third season of Who, well, sets up this, and the two-parter a few episodes back was also mindblowingly good.

And that's not getting into classic Who. XD Go, get more of this in general! *pimpity*

And--I noticed the music was extra good in this episode, but yeah, it's generally fantastic. On Who, at least; it's actually quite dull on Torchwood.
