Brief Whogeeking update...

My dreams last night were filled with theme music and TARDIS. So why do I wake up with "City of New Orleans" playing in my head?

Saw "The Pirate Planet" so as to be introduced to Romana, and Things Douglas Adams Wrote. Conclusions reached: robot parrots are the win, Romana = Hermione (now please lose the pink), and this is the second incarnation ( Read more... )

:o Baker-Doctor. I love him :D Love him to pieces. Him and Romana have a vibe going that is awesome. Although Sarah Jane and Fourth were complete crack too. (As well as my first Doctor and companion). Been years since I saw any though. How're you liking it?

That's Romana the Second, isn't it? In which case it's no wonder they had a vibe going, considering that they were married for six months.

No, if I recall correctly (from Cyn's pre-serial exposition) this is only shortly after they were first stuck together to find the bits of the Key to Time...they certainly aren't *acting* like a married couple.

Heh. Ahem. Sorry. It was Tom Baker and Lalla Ward who were married, briefly, not the characters.

I remember Pirate Planet as being marvelous, but I'm blanking on which Romana it was: statuesque, brunette, haughty, or tiny, blonde, and bubbly?

The latter is Lala/Lalla Ward, whom I found rawther adorable - and apparently Tom Baker did, too.

She played, I comment irrelevantly, a pretty good Ophelia in a production of Hamlet which also had Patrick Stewart as Claudius - also quite good - and Derek Jacobi as Hamlet - stinking awful. I tell you, it made it very difficult for me to A: keep a straight face watching Romana and Jean-Luc Picard do Shakespeare when we watched it in my high school English class, and B: believe everyone who told me that Derek Jacobi was a great, great actor. I think it's probably true, mind you, it's just that our first meeting was so very unpleasant.
