Summer time and the living's easy

The empty pool in Tyler and Ryan's backyard is full and awesome.  Swam last night, swam today. Might swim some more when they get out of class.  While most folks are busy with their classes I reread Perks of Being a Wallflower, which I do think is a good book.  But probably also a stupid book to read when you're alone.  It didn't depress me so much as I am just all spacey now and want to be around people.

I feel like a need a nap or something, maybe it was all the time in the sun.  My skin is baked and all chlorine-y.

Suzan and I had a picnic by the river the other day.  Wine and cheese and bread and fruit and just hanging out, it was delightful.  I forgot what a long walk it is to the river from Francis' though, and I'd been awake for about 24 hours so it was physically trying.  It did allow me to finally realign my sleep schedule though.  I feel like a real human again.  No more waking up at nine at night, or four in the morning, not knowing what day it is, etc.

I'm taking Creative Writing at city college and it is horrific.  Hellish.  The professor doesn't take himself seriously, the people are morons.  I mean, not everyone, just the people who speak up most frequently.  Asking why poetry exists, after the teacher has just given the best (actually, maybe the only) I've ever heard is a one way ticket to punch in the face town.   People who think everything was somehow created with a concise and meaningful purpose ask the most obnoxious and useless questions.  The class has 40 people in it, which just blows my little liberal arts college mind.  Of course, it's still Sacramento so there's one person in the class who I went to elementary school with.  And Tyler and Daniel are in it with me, so we can be pompous and disrespectful together.

I've been reading a lot: After Dark, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Kafka on the Shore.  I feel like there have been others, but maybe not.

Francis is home from class, time to make some dinner.
