Been a Minute
Wow, it has been a while. Lots has happened in the last year or so. I got a faculty appointment as a Research Assistant Professor at Morgan State University. I work for the Center for Urban Health Equity and will be focusing on issues that speak to socio-cultural issues, particularly for urban African-American and Latino men.
This is a great opportunity because it meshes so much of the work I did prior to being a part of academia with an academic space. The more I think about it, the more I realize it is just like being at the Adolescent Health Research Group with Hopkins, just in a completely different role (one of the research scientists instead of one of the grunt workers). It's amazing to see how growth has occurred.
I will still be able to do gaming stuff, as I am keeping a Affiliate Researcher tag at American University, linked to the Game Center. It is overall beneficial, and means I have two avenues to do research.
And research I am doing - I have 4 articles, 2 book chapters, and 2 grants currently out in the ether. By the end of the year, there will be another grant and 2 more articles.
This is a great, solid position. It isn't tenure track now, but it can become so, and it is a State position so there's a pension.
