This really is a great time to be alive. Though I do worry about the state of the world. All these terrible things taking place around the world, terrorism, famine, war. Surely these are all persistent elements of history, and in recent time, probably a little over sensationalised by the media, only making it seem like the end of the world is nigh. But with certainty, these things are happening, and it makes me so sad.

And it's not just the big evils, but the little ones. Things people don't even think about. People throwing their garbage around everywhere. Smoking in well trafficked public areas. And I can't stress this enough, but there are too many cars stinking up our roads (due mostly to an unhealthy preconception most people have about cars as a convenience item.) It's not that I hate suburbia. I love it! I just wish well, things were cleaner, and people were more considerate. But it's in our nature to be completely ego-centric. And I am certainly not without reliance on some of the 'evils' of society. Even now as I type this, I'm using electricity, which is not without blame for pollution.

But this is still a good time. Life is made easier and more exciting by technology, and it hasn't enslaved humanity just yet (ala matrix). And there is still magic in the world, and in humanity. You just have to know where to look.
