Oops, I'll do it again..

I knew it was dangerous.
I did it anyway.
It felt good.

I'm having a get-things-done kick at the moment (needed because I haven't done anything for weeks, aside from xmas, nye, partying, etc).. and today I wanted to get more done, but needed to visit several locations that weren't geographically close.. and some were in the city where parking is ridiculous.
So it looked like a typical scenario for the motorbike; but I was riding around on it yesterday evening, and it was LUDICROUSLY HOT, riding around in kevlar jeans and cordura meshed armour with boots, leather gloves, etc etc. Today it was forecast to be even warmer - and I'd be doing it at peak temperature, ie. midday to 4pm.
So I thought, hell, I don't have to go far or fast.. let's see what it's like in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals. I see everyone else doing it.. *gulp*

And I have to say - I felt vulnerable, and I was still a bit too hot at times when stopped at traffic lights - but aside from that, it worked well. I'd be tempted to do it again in similar circumstances. Needless to say one rides extremely carefully though.

The problem isn't so much the riding, actually - I can do that with the "safe" gear and it's hot, but bearable as long as you're moving. However, wandering around town shopping does NOT work well when you're still wearing the gear, and it's not like I can take a change of clothes and change every time I get on and off the bike, right?

Anyway, I also managed to scratch four or five items off my to-do list today, and a visit to Ikea tomorrow should sort out a few more.. Yay.

Now, who's up for some cold, cold beers in a preferably-air-conditioned pub tonight?

motorbike, melbourne, motorcycle, heat, retail
