Car insurance
I've been getting car insurance quotes. The BMW 320i was too "high risk" for them, so I've been getting them for a 1992 1.8L 4WD Subaru Legacy estate (station wagon). That's a pretty bloody slow, reasonably large, family-orientated car. Great for going camping in, which is what I want to do, though. I thought it'd be pretty cheap to insure one as third-party-only.
however... I am blown away by the ludicrous amounts I'm getting quoted! It makes the fully-comprehensive insurance for my Australian turbo-charged RS that I had before I turned 25 look cheap by comparison!

OK, I've taken a few deep breaths and called around some more, and have managed to find some slightly less extortionate prices.. but I'm still looking at around 500 pounds a year for third-party insurance. That's bloody rediculous, albeit less than the £2k I was getting before.
