Google phone interview

Jan 03, 2006 23:15

Well, half an hour had gone by since the allocated time, and they still hadn't called, so I dropped them an email, politely enquiring as to what was going on.. A mere few minutes they called up and apologised. heh.
The interview was shorter than I expected, and once again, I feel like I did badly at a phone interview.
They ask me to write code, only over the phone.. My mind sooo doesn't like doing that. I *need* to write it down, see it as it goes along..

I did alright at the programming aspect in the end though.. it was really quite simple. But then they asked me a bunch of questions about expressing program run time orders, which I botched horribly.. I know the stuff that the notation *means* in practice, but it's been a looong time since uni and I don't remember how to express it properly. Gah.

Then there were some questions on basic UNIX programming principles, processes, etc. which I breezed through.

and the annoying thing is.. I've now drunk lots of coffee, and am Awake again. *sigh*

interview, jobs
