What do you think? How would the world change if people never needed sleep?
This is the topic for my microeconomics class. I've been brainstorming. Here's a very rough list of what I've thought of:
- hotel chains would go under
- bed companies (manufacturing/selling) would go under
- infant/child care, would it be needed?
- would the world need/want more entertainment?
- would people live longer?
- would medical needs change?
- what would this do to auto/life insurance?
- would people live in smaller homes?
- would driving be safer?
- places of business could be open 24/7, may induce unemployment
- would illness/healing be affected? (If sleep is the answer, then how would people heal?)
- would people develop more hobbies?
- would this change the way entertainment is delivered? (concerts at night?)
- school/college - when would classes be?
- would bars close?
Thoughts?
