Time flies, doesn't it?

Tallguy's visit was brief, but fun. He flew in yesterday morning, drove a rental car in from the airport. We immediately got the car moved, at least until the car decided she really wasn't going to move anymore. Fortunately, we have roadside assistance and were able to have the car towed to the shop.

Tallguy: the car's done. I just need to get it. I think I'll wait until the rain stops.

We were able to run to the cafeteria for lunch right after the fun with the car, had a mostly leisurely lunch with a housemate of mine. This housemate is just now realizing what I describe as a Smith specialty: The feeling of relief you get from completing the last class of the week is overwhelmed by the sheer volume of work to be done before the first class of NEXT week. It truly is astounding.

After lunch, the Tallguy took a nap while I tended to some obligations online. I bullied him into attending tea with the house. We had a planned tea, which was on diversity training/awareness. We have to have a certain number of "events" each semester, so my head house person has been trying to combine them with teas. This is both good and bad. Ironically, the person most vocal about diversity concern was late. Someone had to call her to remind her we were having the tea with a special guest speaker.

After the tea, we waited a bit for another housemate's boyfriend to make it to campus. The four of us then went to Mama Iguana's in Northampton. The food was fantastic and the beer quite tasty. We then ran to the liquor store to restock my fridge. (I still had my Shiner, but I don't want to burn through all of that since I can only get it as far east as Chicago. Stupid distributors!!)

The liquor was for social lubrication. We had Guitar Hero and Karaoke going when we got back to the house. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I didn't do much other than back up sing from my very comfy position of attached-to-the-Tallguy, but was having a blast. I ended up on the back porch at the end of the night, chatting with a few housemates. It was nice.

Early (!!) this morning, the Tallguy grabbed his things and drove back to the airport. Poor guy had to work today.

In all, a good visit, even if it was short.
