Why, it's Why?!
No jokes, Elephant Eyelash is in my top 10 albums of all time, easily. And Alopecia is way up there too! And Oaklandazulasylum is not without its moments (in fact, it is quite fantastic).
Here is Rubber Traits, it is very good.
And here is A Sky For Shoeing Horses Under, it is also very good.
Pretty amazing, amirite?
If somebody asked me to immediately tell them my favourite band, it would be Why? Probably because I am a 20something hipster who thinks he has Problems(tm). But also because I think Yoni Wolf is amongst the best lyricists of the generation (true story!). If you only got into them with Alopecia and have yet to explore their older stuff (and various side projects), do so! Now! I have a lot of fun identifying the recurring motifs and concepts in Yoni's lyrics. I could have (and should have) written my dissertation on these guys! "Hair loss and the body in the work of Yoni Wolf" or something.
Anyway, one of the best songs of the decade?
