It was distracting as hell. Kurt shuffled in his seat and tried to ignore the way Blaine’s fingertips traced sporadic circles on his lower back. Blaine had always been relatively touchy-feely, but this was ridiculous. Kurt was pretty sure that Blaine’s hands hadn’t left him since he walked in the front door.
Not that Kurt was complaining, not at all. But sitting in the living room with the rest of his family looking on was more than a little uncomfortable. Kurt shuffled again and abruptly stood. “I’m going to go get a drink, does anyone else want one?”
Finn looked up from his magazine. “Soda for me.”
“Okay.” Kurt glanced at Blaine who was already halfway out of his chair. “Do you want anything?”
Blaine stood. “I’ll come with you.” He reached out and caught Kurt’s hand with a gentle squeeze.
Kurt smiled softly. “All right.” He squeezed Blaine’s hand back and led him down the hallway and into the kitchen. He dropped Blaine’s hand to grab some glasses from the cupboard and Blaine’s hands immediately reappeared on his lower back. Kurt glanced over his shoulder and met Blaine’s eyes amused. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Blaine grimaced. “I know, I’m sorry.” He stepped a little closer and kissed Kurt’s shoulder. “I just missed you.”
Kurt abandoned his quest for glasses, turning in Blaine’s arms and draping his arms around his neck. “I know. I missed you too-”
Their lips met in a gentle caress.
“-too much,” Kurt added quietly, pressing his forehead to Blaine’s and tangling his fingers into the soft curls at the nape of his neck. “But listen, I’ll make these drinks, we’ll put in some time with the parentals, then we can go upstairs, and I’m all yours.”
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
They kissed again. Lips lingering, soft and sweet, neither wanting to start something they couldn’t finish.
Blaine pulled back and let out a shuddery breath. He wrapped his arms around Kurt and buried his face in his neck. “Just... don’t let go until I do, okay?”
Kurt leaned back against the counter, pulling Blaine with him. “Next semester will be better,” he promised softly, hands running lightly down the length of Blaine’s back. “We’ll see each other more.”
“No we won’t,” Blaine murmured. “But that’s okay. We’ll always have each other for the holidays.”
Kurt’s arms tightened. “Let’s go upstairs.”
“But your parents-”
“Are not my number one priority right now.” Kurt finished. He pulled back slightly and clasped Blaine’s face. “You are. And you need something from me that I can’t give you with my dad, Carole and Finn in the room.”
Blaine let out a breath and clutched Kurt’s wrists. “No, it’s okay. We’re here to have dinner with your parents and we will. You haven’t seen them for a really long time and neither have I. We have more than a month together for everything else. I’m okay.”
“Are you sure?” Kurt murmured.
“Yeah, I can deal with a couple of hours.”
“Okay.” Kurt kissed Blaine’s forehead and pushed him away gently. “Then keep your hands to yourself and let me make these drinks.”
Blaine smiled softly, crossing his arms tight over his chest and retreating a couple of steps to rest his hip against the counter opposite.
Extracting a couple of glasses from the cupboard, Kurt crossed the room and opened the fridge door to survey its contents. “What do you want?” he asked. “We have Coke, lemonade, orange juice...”
“Lemonade is fine.”
“Okay... Finn will have Coke...” Kurt grabbed both bottles and returned to the glasses, filling them to the brim. It was only as he was screwing the caps back on that he caught Blaine’s eye and smiled. “You doing okay?”
Blaine laughed softly, brushing a lightly trembling hand across his brow. “I’m fine.”
It was the tremble that did it. Kurt paused, staring as Blaine re-crossed his arms and dropped his eyes to the floor. Kurt didn’t even think twice. He crossed the room in a couple of quick strides and stepped right up against Blaine’s body.
Palms cupped the back of heads, hands tangled in hair, and then their mouths crashed together, hungry and desperate. The kiss deepened, their tongues lashing together, claiming, exploring and learning paths. Blaine’s hand slid down Kurt’s back, his palm warm and soft, even through the fabric of his jumper, stroking along his spine, then down over the ass of his black jeans, pulling him closer until their groins nestled together.
Kurt wrenched his lips away. “Screw this, let’s go upstairs.”
Blaine’s lips latched onto Kurt’s neck. “What about dinner?”
“Not important.”
Blaine smiled. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
