So, I, ah, haven't posted in a while. Where did that time go?? Let's see...
I had a nice time at Madrigal. It is really great to see some long term plot lines wrapping up and new plots coming to the front. I've even made some good progress on my own stuff in the game which is pretty darn amazing. I must admit, however, to some very late night hatred of a certain campaign director. I had been pulled out of bed for a meeting which I could not skip because it was an opportunity that could not be wasted in order to attempt to get Elshea back to the White Court. I then waited a good hour plus waiting for that encounter to occur as I stood in the tavern with my forehead against a wall trying to stay awake and hating life in general. I was standing because there was nowhere to sit in the tavern and it was too cold to wait outside as my post-sleep body had been shaking and shivering the moment I stepped into the cold. So, I was feeling much like a dark baron full of hate when I was told I could finally speak to the npc. Perhaps some pcs can tell you that I bounced up and down a couple time repeating to myself, "I am awake. I am full of positive thoughts and attitudes. I can do this. I am not full of hate and only the desire to sleep forever. Right. Positive thoughts." Of course, it did not help that I was left alone for the encounter because Tiger's Shadow had gone off to help Galen become an evil villain. Oh wait, I mean, help their friend with his important mission. Rrrright. Happily, I managed to say something in my sleep addled state that somehow convinced the npc to help us. Really, he probably felt badly that I was so incoherent. Note to anyone I play with - I do not mind getting woken up to do stuff. I do mind getting woken up 10 minutes after I get to sleep to do stuff and then having to wait a long time before actually doing stuff. This is why if I have warning of stupid late thing I must do, I go to sleep early. Waking up at 4am? Not a big deal to me. Staying up until 4am? Not feasible at all! That being said, I don't want anyone to think that I had a bad event. I really did have a good event. I even got to ordain two pcs! One of them came up to me later and told me that this was the first time that she felt that she had been really noticed at the game by other pcs. And you know what? That is why I love to do things like ordinations. It's important for people to be recognized in their community for the work they do and how awesome they really are. Everyone should come to me for their ordinations! :-)
In real life, I have been working super hard to get ready for the holidays. The vast majority of my Christmas shopping and wrapping is done. My Christmas tree went up the Friday after Thanksgiving. My Christmas cards went out on December 1st. So, now I can pretty much enjoy the rest of the Christmas season with minimal work. NICE. My yearly Christmas Party was even this past weekend and it went very well. I think I talked more with folks than I usually do and everyone seemed to be in good spirit. Clean up the next morning was easy and so I could not really ask for more. Of course, my Saturday was a bit crazy since I went to both the RISD alumni art sale in the morning and went out to dinner with a bunch of folks prior to my party. In fact, we showed up at my house just as my party was supposed to start with guests already ringing the door bell. Aieee! Yeah, we really cut it a bit close. But at least I don't think they were waiting long. My parents fly home for Christmas next week and I'm excited to see them. They had been considering not coming home for Christmas and it had really bummed me out. Seriously. Sure, I know I'm a grown woman and all that, but Christmas is still a special time of the year.
And I can't end this post without a little encounter that Mark had... He was driving home from school in the early afternoon and was obeying all traffic laws as he usually does. Well, as he stops at each stop sign, a person behind him keeps honking and tailgating him. As he pulls into our driveway, the person waits for him to get out of his car, then honks and flips him off. He walks to the end of the driveway and watches as the person pulls into their driveway, a few houses down from us. Mark walks down to her house and knocks on the door. She answers the door and Mark says, "I was just wondering why you flipped me off." She responds that she was in a hurry and Mark was going too slow. Mark responds that he thinks that was inappropriate and he deserves an apology. She says that he better get off her property or else she is going to call the cops. Mark did return home at that point, a little perplexed by this woman's behavior, especially when she realized it was someone who was a neighbor. Anyhow, I know exactly where to let Cotton poop from now on. j/k This woman has, in fact, yelled at me in the past for letting Cotton pee on someone's yard. Doesn't she just personify the Christmas spirit? haha.
