Friday Night Lights, iPod and music miscellania

oo1. Glee is waking up in the morning to discover a happy email from CDJapan in my gmail! First order of business? Order KAT-TUN Live DVD and new single, check. Sadly, and not unexpectedly, the first press of the single is out of print, so I need to remind myself to check back, which of course means that I'll miss out, because I always forget to check back.

I have so much glee over the Live DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oo2. iPod is still sick. It works, but it doesn't always mount, it's reporting write/read hard disk errors randomly, it freezes my laptop, it's basically not trustworthy. *cries* I really wanted to wait until next year to replace it with the 160 gig classic. So in any case, I have zero videos on it right now, and about 12 gig, which is just such a tiny amount of music! I wasted so much time dealing with this over the weekend. And thanks to LJ, I was able to figure out exactly when this happened before, and from that description, it sounds like the same problem I experienced this weekend, only after restoring it last year, I haven't had problems again until now.. >.< Is October my cursed iPod month?

oo3. The new Federico Aubele, Panamericana, is gorgeous - it's making me very happy right now, and I'm relieved that I could at least import it to the sick iPod.

oo4. My friend bought tickets for us to see The Decemberists in November, but I've never listened to them before. If you have, could you recommend an album I should start with? I'd like to prepare a little, if I can.

oo5. I'm going to see Loreena McKennitt on Friday!

oo6. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Whoo! I am ALL CAUGHT UP! And it was 22 episodes of fabulous, fabulous. I'm fascinated by the new developments in the first 2 episodes of S2 - the changing dynamics are very interesting, but perhaps the one I like the most is the development of Landry: his response to Tyra's comment (to be a man) was just wonderful, and I'm looking forward to further fallout from the assault/death, although I am terrified of consequences for either Landry or Tyra, even if those consequences lead to high drama. My big quibble, though, is that I really don't buy Landry trying out for (and making!) the football team. Logically, it just doesn't make sense from the character development we've seen thus far. Julie, on the other hand, falling out of love with Matt makes perfect sense, and even though I hate it for Matt's sake (poor puppy!), I understand Julie's POV. Plus, I feel like Matt has a lot more growing up to do in terms of how he relates to people - he's so wonderful and mature in many ways, but I wonder if he's just sliding by on his "good boy" charm when he could perhaps try to be more pro-active and more confident. It's okay. I'm sure he'll learn - I just hope he doesn't swing to the opposite extreme and go all Tim Riggins on us!

I must say, I love all of these characters - yes, all of them - so, so much. Coach and Mrs. Coach are definitely my favorites, but they're all terrific: Matt, Tyra, Tim, Jason, SMASH, Lyla, Julie, Landry...even Buddy Garitty, who's an ass, but even he has his good spots sometimes. Every one is so real, so down-to-earth and believable. I hope S2 is a good one. :)
