I'm really glad I took the time, too! It was very moving, touching, and also funny in places. I agree - Kitagawa, from the four of her dramas I've now seen, does a good job with building relationships between people, and also she's very good with describing how people pull themselves up from difficult situations, and also how people find direction from a sense of being lost in the world. (incidentally, the four I've seen are Long Vacation, Beautiful Life, Orange Days & Tatta Hitotsu no Koi) I'm definitely glad I saw it, particularly because of the kind of message it has, and what it says about the people who like it.

I agree - Sae and Kai were awesome together - he was the only person who could be strong enough for her and I really felt for both characters throughout the drama. The actors did indeed have terrific chemistry. I really like the actress - between Good Luck! and Orange Days I see that she plays tough characters who may not be likeable to everyone, but I very much like both Sae and Ogawa and I felt like I understood where they both characters are coming from.

You know me, I'm very open-minded and I usually like to finish what I start. It never once occurred to me not to watch or even not to finish this. *smile*

yes, thats exactly why i like Kitagawa's works (and i've seen the doramas u have too) - she makes one feel very warm and fuzzy but not in an overly dramatic sappy way. ;) not that sappy is bad, but Kitagawa has a way with making her writing and characters just blend well and one cannot help but feel and be emo about it too! *lol*

Sae and Kai are really great together. i wasn't surprised at all when i read they were dating in real life.

but i also like Shohei and Akane in OD. just because Shohei is a sweet guy, yet he doesn't really show it that much. i love the way he is protective of his younger sister, and its like he was surprised that Akane found that side of him, like he was still trying to keep cool even... ;)

Me, too! Keita was such a sweet "nice guy" but I loved watching Shohei develop, and I loved Akane as a character. The tension between Shohei and Akane was very nice and I like the layers that we saw revealed in Shohei as he went along, and that he really hid himself away behind his showy front. His clothes still make me giggle a little, because on anyone less playboyish, they would have been awfully girly.

See, I never understand why others are so hard on jdorama heroines, because most of the time I love them, even if I don't start out loving them. Both Sae and Akane were fab here.

Shohei's fashion sense made me cringe the first time I saw it - one of his purple shirts with a bias cut has been imprinted in my memory forever! *lol*. But I got past that, since I really enjoyed the whole casts' relationship with one another.

You also pointed out earlier that the guys learned sign language because they like Sae, not just because they had to communicate with her. I liked that part as well - it shows how much people can be, doing stuff that would be important for somebody else because of the kind of friendship you want to keep - and not just in a romantic sense.

Ooooh I feel an OD post coming, its been almost a year and a half since I watched it and I always want to do a rewatch (hopefully when there is time).
