Tatta Hitotsu no Koi Episode 6 Picspam

This week's Tatta Hitotsu no Koi definitely ramped up the tension with some (melo)dramatic moments, but it also gave us moments of great sweetness. Since I'm utterly, utterly braindead I can't promise that my points will make any sense, and for sure they will not be complete at all. Apologies.

1) I liked how when Nao asked if she could come over right away, while Hiroto was still working, that Ren asked to talk to her and just took over. I loved the smile on Hiroto's face and the way he rubbed Ren's head: he's really very happy that they are friends.

2) So Hiroto's employee is gambling and losing his money...this is of course going to tie in to him fumbling around in the office late at night as we saw a couple episodes ago. Bad Things Will Ensue.

3) The scene between Hiroto and Nao on the boat was of course the highlight of the episode, and it was a long, sweet scene that involved them talking about their hopes and dreams and also, sex. :) I loved how Nao had to sort of prod Hiroto before he was able to think past his immediate ideas for fixing up his home and making it and the business better. They were just unbearably adorable as they lay together all snuggled up. I was rather absorbed with watching Kamenashi stroking Ayase's ears!! I just couldn't stop staring at his fingers and I kept wondering if Ayase felt anything from that contact because ear stroking can be very sensitive and erogenous for some people (*laughs* Yes, I melted). :D In any case, Hiroto ultimately revealed his dream to have a large family, which of course ties into something we learn later in the episode. Incidentally, I was trying to count up all the different angles that they filmed the boat scene and I lost count...it was a lot. God knows how long it took them to film that scene, and it must have been freezing out there, especially for Ayase who was just wearing a dress.

4) The scene in class when Yuko and Nao were texting each other was very cute, and their smiles and their later conversation before Yuko goes off to talk to Kou were lovely.

5) HOW MUCH DO I LOVE Ayuta? His fear was palpable when he realized that Hiroto would have gone after Yamashita, and I loved so much these two friends running off to the aid of their friend. Was it a bit cheesy? Yes, but still heartwarming.

6) The beginning of the fight between Hiroto and Yamashita was meh. The first time I watched the knife part, though, I was watching it through my fingers - the tension was horrible, and what Hiroto did was incredibly dramatic but also incredibly stupid. He tossed it off, but in reality if someone exerted the kind of pressure on that blade that he seemed to do, they might slice through important tendons and possibly be forever disabled. kitsune714, am I right in thinking this? That being said, I thought Kamenashi was marvelous and managed to pull it off believably. I loved how he had to force his own fingers to open and release the blade, and how he was crying at the end after his buddies showed up.

7) I love Hiroto in the scene with Nao's brother - I was looking at his face and thinking how could that anguish not melt your heart and not make someone want to cuddle him?

8) I am wondering what Ayuta was trying to say to Hiroto, though, about Nao before her brother shows up - I really didn't think it was yet to the point where one of his friends should be asking him whether it was worth it to pursue the relationship.

9) The final scene with Nao's father...Kame looked so beautiful and again, he was so believable as Hiroto just asks very plainly and heartwrenchingly: "What should I do?" My heart was really wrung for him.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: They lay the angst on in this episode. We're at ep. 6 which is usually when this begins to happen in jdramas, and I'm not sure where they are going with this whole angst over Nao possibly being barren. If this is something that will come between them, then I'm rather annoyed. If it's instead because they ultimately want to have Nao get pregnant and bear a child that Hiroto can raise after she dies, then I might be ok with it, but I'm just not thrilled with child-bearing being an issue. That being said, I'm at a point in my life where I realize that this is a deal-breaker for many, many couples. However, knowing Hiroto as we do, I can't imagine that he would ever reject Nao just because she can't have kids, so there had better be more to this than that.

Also, the actor who played Yamashita was ludicrous, not unexpectedly. What a cartoon! And I wish Kitagawa had written a different way to resolve the fight between Yamashita and Hiroto because grabbing that knife and slicing his hand open was beyond stupid.

That boat scene, though? Pure and utter LOVE and enchantment. Even to the end with Ren and Nao huddling under the blanket on the boat which was even more lovely cuteness...

Kamenashi looked particularly beautiful in many of the scenes of this weekend's episode, so here are some of the best:
