Yes and he did tell her he had a 'cute face' in episode 1. Then again, he did tell Shinkai where Ogawa was (at the clinic) after she injured herself even though until that point he usually fibbed on behalf of Ogawa by fobbing Shinkai off.
At that point I was trying to decide if he had liked and then gave up or it had just been gentle liking all along. If he liked her, poor him. I suppose Kaori is still single ;)
Naito Jane, Togashi, Fukaura
I also loved Naito Jane, he was just so naughty and cheeky, always stirring up trouble but essentially quite a nice person.
I take your point about the red herring thing but you see, I was never even slightly worried about Fukaura - it was so clear to me that she was just a red herring and despite being 'prettier' than Ogawa was not going to be a real threat, but they definitely showed Ogawa in a much softer, relaxed and smilier state when she was with Koda!!! That caused me angst.
Also, Togashi had a funny look on her face at the end of episode 3 when she saw Koda talking to Ogawa. Eek!
I wouldn't have had angst about Shinkai/Togashi if it hadn't been for that scene after she jokingly says she likes/loves Shinkai and he sits there for ages with a dopey look on his face trying to 'figure out' what she was saying :P Oh god, now I sound like a rabid Kara/Lee shipper - "hands off my ship!" or 'shippo' as they seem to say in Japanese ;) winterspel - kill me now! :)
I got so thinking about Shinkai and Ogawa stuffing their faces with sushi that I had to have some myself! :D
Haha I put in on my website so you've probably seen it, but when I was doing a mad google for anything to do with Good Luck I found this at someone's journal: "*sigh I was just watching "Good Luck" and "Hero" both starring "Takuya Kimura" from Smap. Even though he has colleauges and stuff he still spends most of his free time by himself. Somehow that put me at ease that maybe its ok to go to a restaurant and say "one please" to the hostess. I have always wanted to live by myself, somehow its not turning out the way I thought it would be."
I personally never found anything particularly bad about eating alone especially at lunch but I did like the fact that both Shinkai and Ogawa are pretty relaxed about eating sushi on their own and the positive mountain of plates that Ogawa has next to her in episode 1 is hliarious.
One day I headed out to Genki sushi, a chain store in Hong Kong where they have a sushi train just like the one in Good Luck. It's the same deal that the different dishes depending on price are on different coloured/sized plates and at the end, the staff add up your bill at the end but counting your plates. Anyway I was happily munching away in my 'Ogawa moment' but then my friend Hera phoned: 'Where are you? Genki sushi! You're on your own!? Stop eating - I'm coming over right now!" :D
