Christmas day had always been about family and hot chocolate and snowball fights and presents, and this year was no different, despite their change of location. It was good to know that some things didn't change, to have a sense of consistency in the middle of all of this chaos.
Ed was perched by the fire, cheeks still bright red from the cold, warming his hands by the flame.

"Hey," he greeted, walking in and taking seat next to the Just. Lifting the compass in his right hand he glanced over. "Thank you. Though, I'm assuming that the note was a joke."
Because I wasn't lost, Peter thought wryly, smiling even as he turned away, focus landing on the rather nice compass with his initials in it.

Out of all of them, Susan had definitely been the hardest to find a gift for. What did girls like, anyways? Especially a teenaged girl.
"I suppose you'll need it, though. When that map in your head fails you." another quip, he couldn't help it, after all.

"I still haven't seen the chess set in action for myself, but I'd play a game with you, soon, if you like," he offered, casting a sideways glance.

Ed realizes how far they've come since a couple of Christmases ago, and is silently thankful for it. Especially since they used to fight every other day, and Ed was both resentful and bitter at his older brother. But things change.
"I still can't believe they move. That's incredibly neat. Thank you, by the way." he nods, the little boy in him excited at the prospect.

"It's not the most unbelievable thing we've seen, you have to admit," he pointed out first, before adding, "But anyway, you're welcome..."
Eyes going back to the fire, he swallowed a quiet sigh. The day had gone without error and, for the most part, it seemed like things were going well enough in general, give or take the curses which were out of their hands.

"But I'll take the dryads and the fauns any day."
There was mostly silence in the room, except for the fire crackling. Today had been a lot more fun than he'd had in a while, what with the Witch and everything being so serious. He'd have to remember to thank Caspian later on. And Destrier as well.

In the back of his mind he whispered a thank-you in passing throughout the day, supposing that Father Christmas might be the sort to hear a show of gratitude, even a world away.
