Note: For
araanaz9, because I'm still working on your birthday fic, months after your birthday. XD
Koyama was on his floor.
Sleeping.
Shige blinked, rubbed his eyes and peeled his face from pages of his textbook where a scant few minutes ago, he had been napping while studying for his test tomorrow.
When Shige blearily realised that he was trying to calculate the worth of a Tuesday based on how many offences the pork bun had committed, he figured it was time for bed. He marked the page in his book with his ruler and snapped it shut, the finer intricacies of the legal system blurring in his brain with the lyrics to Weeeek and the menu at the Chinese restaurant he’d gone to with Koyama and Massu yesterday afternoon.
Rubbing the side of his face wearily, he carefully considered what he should do with Koyama, who was sleeping right in the middle of his room. He was being a great nuisance and being in the way of… everything, one foot propped up on the end of Shige’s bed, the other hand on top of the pile of Shige’s homework and his gangly self taking up precious floor space.
Reminding himself that he’d have to live with the consequences for the rest of his life, Shige decided to be nice. He rolled Koyama over, until he was facing Shige, eyes shut tight, mouth open and possibly drooling all over Shige's clean floor. His foot fell off Shige’s bed and landed with a heavy thump right on top of his bag.
Shige poked him in the shoulder.
"Didn't I tell you to go home?" He yawned, jaw cracking.
Koyama snuffled quietly and didn't wake up.
Shige sighed, looked at his watch and blanched when he realised it was three am in the morning.
"Come on," he said, more firmly. "Sleep in a bed. My bed, if you have to."
Koyama mumbled something indistinct and rolled over onto Shige's foot. Shige generally was far too nice to even think about kicking anyone, let alone his best friend, but it was three am and he had a test tomorrow and he really, really hadn't needed Koyama over to distract him from studying all night long because he was dead certain that he'd be failing this class tomorrow --
Koyama's hand uncurled itself enough to grab Shige by the ankle and pulled.
Shige went tumbling down with a muffled shriek and a thump.
Koyama woke from being accidentally kneed in the stomach and having his face stuffed with Shige's hair.
He sneezed.
"Is that you, Shige?" he mumbled, cracking open one eye.
Shige propped himself up onto his elbows and sighed when he realised that Koyama was really far too bony to be lying on top of and kind of uncomfortable.
"Who else?" he said, grumpily. Pointedly, he gave Koyama a look.
"Tegoshi?" Koyama said, trying not to grin. "He likes lying all over people."
Shige thought it would be very appropriate if he forced Koyama to sleep on the floor all night long. Unfortunately, he'd probably hear about this for the next few weeks if he did that and Shige knew exactly how often Koyama would be retelling the story (very often and even to strangers).
"Come on," he repeated, climbing to his feet. He nudged Koyama in the side with his toe. "Bed."
"Yes, Shige Mama." Koyama yawned and took Shige's offered hand to pull himself up. Sleepily, he moved about three paces to the left and flopped into Shige's bed, limbs askew and rolled about until Shige's blanket was over his face.
"Shove," Shige said, pulling the blanket over the rest of him. Koyama shifted over to a side sleepily, allowing Shige to gingerly climb into bed as well. "No kicking," he warned, adjusting his pillow. Flicking off his lamp, he settled back into bed, elbowing Koyama across until he had some space to stretch out.
Koyama mumbled something that may have been, "no snoring either."
"You too," Shige said. "Night."
"Night."
"Don't forget you have Shounen Club tomorrow."
Koyama's voice was amused. "Yes, Shige Mama."
Shige was glad it was dark. “Go to sleep,” he said, flustered.
Koyama laughed quietly and reached a hand back to blindly pat Shige. He missed Shige’s face entirely, but he caught Shige’s arm. “Night,” he said warmly, sleepily.
“Goodnight,” Shige said. He buried his face into his pillow and turned away from Koyama, determined not to smile.
Maybe, maybe it was better that Koyama had come over, after all. Though, Shige vowed never to tell Koyama that. He’d never hear the end of it.
