* I got free tickets to Bright Star, the film about John Keat's love affair with Fanny Brawne courtesy of stylishkiller. It was a lovely film, though I think it's probably too sappy for me (no, really. I spent most of the time as they were lovingly gazing into each other's eyes going, "You have the sweetest family, Ms.Brawne. I hope you appreciate that. And yeah, it's pretty easy to see you're 18 with your temper tantrums..."). Abbie Cornish was absolutely luminous as Fanny, and Paul Schneider was excellent as Mr.Brown. I think I was hoping to like it more than I did, but romance films have never really tickled my fancy, so I'm not surprised that this didn't, either. The film work was beautiful and full of soft pastels on a natural landscape and deep rich colours indoors - I really enjoyed just looking at the film, you know?
* Huh, I didn't know they were turning Murakami's Nowegian Wood into a film.
