A list

I can't seem to make my list of best 2005 albums, for some reason. And I don't really have to for CDReviews.com, anyway, so no big deal. I no longer think that 2005 was a bad year for music, per se, but I do feel like it was a real transition year. For me personally, as well as for the industry ( Read more... )

I am really glad that I've somehow managed to avoid those feelings of loss with Sufjan. Your experience would normally be mine when a band gets big, but this time it has been the reverse. I have LOVED seeing Sufjan get more and more recognition. It made me happy to hear that Illinois got more than twice as many votes as any other album this year. Awesome! I think a large part is because I don't see that the success has really changed at all how Sufjan seems to create or perform music and it certainly has not hurt the final product.

I do like what I have heard of that Bright Eyes album, but I don't have it so I don't think you heard it here. I have the other album he put out, the "Digital.." one, which I have not really gotten into very much.

Do you know when you are moving yet?

Hey Dave. I'm moving really soon, actually. January 21st, I believe, is the day my train pulls out of the station. You'll have to stop by.

As for Sufjan, I agree that he has not compromised at all. I have no logical reason to feel the way I do. I just do.
