All complex questions with complex answers that's for sure.

When it comes to the effect on the american people, i think there's a couple of possiblities.

If there's a postitive, I think it will be that maybe we'll rediscover that, and I know this may sound trite, but that America IS capable of doing the "impossible." Because right after nine-eleven we were all pretty much sure we'd be able to find OBL in days, and then over the years, as Iraq turned into a mess and Afganistan got even worse, we started to think "Ok, maybe we are powerless."

Now I just wish we could harness that energy into something that doesn't involve killing, like the gas crisis, or the enviroment or the space program.

On the downside, I've got a feeling that there's a group of people who hate Obama so much that they'll start coming up with theories about how this was all made up just for publicity or something like that. Or they'll try to say that this doesn't matter in the long run since OBL may not have had any more direct control over Al Queada. But hey, people can think whatever they want.
