Towards the end of the semester, one of two things happen:
1) I freak out over the amount of work I have to get done, that I should have been doing all along, that I thought I was doing all along, but apparently I must not have been doing enough of it to keep it from snowballing...
2) I get excited over one of my projects--really, really excited.
Freak-out: Paper on the awkward class politics in The Spanish Tragedy; ie, why the fuck was the Duke killed?
Excited: Reconstructing a historical framework of the state of public relations in mass-media of the 1920's for use in the (future) analysis of U.S.A. (This sounds like it might be a piece of real scholarship, he said)
Neutral: Examining the secular-as-Western in the fictionalized Turkey of Snow
And now back to grading papers.
