(In no particular order);

The Appleseed Cast--Forever Longing the Golden Sunsets
Or anything by them. Get in early on the ground floor of my favorite band.

The Wrens--Happy
--Hopeless
and my other favorite band.

Varnaline--Lights
I 'heart' noisy layered guitars

Sunny Day Real Estate--Seven

Cursive--The Great Decay
All about the futility of life and work

mclusky--Alan is a Cowboy Killer
funny lyrics "We had crazy fucking times until the visa card expired"

Bright Eyes--A Perfect Sonnet
--If Winter Ends
That one has fit my mood lately: "I fell for the promise of a life with a purpose, but I know that it's impossible now. So I drink to stay warm, and to kill selected memories"

Neutral Milk Hotel--Holland 1945
and if you like that--King of Carrot Flowers part 1&2
This guys lyrics are so incredible I can't even begin to say.

My Morning Jacket--The Bear
His voice makes you want to rip your heart out of your chest and stomp on it yourself; play this one loud.

Swell--Next to Nothing

Hood--Love is Dead But Never Buried
Or anything off of this ablum ONLY...Their new stuff is boring, but this album was so good that they had "4th favorite band" status for awhile. I hate to say it, but this is a little goth.

Pinback--June

And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead--It Was There That I Saw You
best band name ever

Low--Canada

caP'n Jazz--Take On Me
great cover of a mediocre '80s song...I like it now.

Clearlake--Treat Yourself With Kindness
(I am in love with this guy through his lyrics, and I don't even know him.)

Remy Zero--Glorious #1
"I'm back down to the glorious #1, my prints all over the smoking gun"

14 Iced Bears--Lie to Choose
Their best song, the rest are so-so.

Moose--Boy
More of the layered guitars, I'm so predictable.

Now It's Overhead--Reverse
If you like this song, see me after class. Their albums are amazing, they are my tied-for-2nd favorite band.

The Thermals--How We Know
I could go on and on about these guys...OK, this was the best modern punk show that I have ever seen (there were no posers there!) Their whole album is good if you like this song, but this is the best. One of the best live shows that I have seen in years.

Hint Hint--Young Days
Beautiful moody song, melancholy and nostalgic in a way I can't explain.

Consonant--Cry
Also moody, I'm such a sucker for that. Let it play until the end, it's worth the wait.

Shed Seven--Where Have You Been Tonight?
I'm so Brit-pop damaged.

Volcano!! I'm Still Excited--Joe Jaxon
No, wait, THIS is the best band name ever! Again, let it play, it's worth the wait.

Thingy--Plenty

Minmae--Signed to a Check
I yell this out at every show to no avail. He did it on his own, without the band, I don't think they know it. What a nice guy though! (Nicole, I know you'll really like this one. Oh yeah, weird thing, Chris quit the band. BOO!)

Steve Burns (with Flaming Lips)--Mighty Little Man
this is the guy from Blues Clues (the cute one). Denise, this is for you!...

Ed Haynes--Splash
Anyone who has ever been to the Haight Street Fair will laugh so hard. This song is full of gems, like "He's in the element of his dreams. Yeah, happier than a pig in shit. What does a street person dream, I don't know, but he was obviously in the elements of 'em." And "It's a lager! It goes down and it stays down."

Casiotone For the Painfully Alone--Jeane, If You're Ever in Portland
Did I already say "best band name ever?"

+/- (Plus/Minus)--Trapped Under Ice Floes
One of the best songs ever written, for reals, and I say that with "How Soon is Now" in mind. Seriously, find this song.

Cannanes--Phobos

Telescopes--Flying
I love flange and delay so much!

Field Mice--White
This song has "Jen" written all over it. Want to know if I'll like it?...Does it sound like this song?

Polvo--Street Knowledge

Delgados--Never Look at the Sun
(Laurelei, I think you'll like this band)

I think that's enough for now.
