Not OP, but I've had an idea like this for a bit - not the in bed* part so much as the royalty part. So, in case the AuthorAnon wants to flesh it out a bit, a little ready-made historical context:

- Switzerland never had "royalty," though various cantons were under the sway of nobles from different European dynasties. What nobility they did have was officially dissolved a couple centuries ago. You can pretty much make up whatever you want if you go this route, just know that you'd be dealing with dukes and counts, not princes and kings.

- Portugal's last King, Manuel II, died without any legitimate children. But Manuel is known to have had an affair with famous French dancer and actress Gaby Deslys, which ended before Manuel's marriage in 1913. Perhaps letters are uncovered proving there was a child from this affair? And that child was placed by her busy mother (who died 7 years later) in the care of some Swiss-french family, to raise as their own? And thus, through his (Swiss!)father, Stephane is the great-grandson of the last King of Portugal.

*And speaking of beds, Gaby Deslys had a famous one, carved and gilded in the shape of an enormous swan. And since the prompt is ZebraSwan, yeah, just saying.

OP here - OMG HISTORICAL CONTEXT THANK YOU I LOVE YOU. ♥ To be honest, my knowledge of the history of Swiss and Portuguese leaders is a bit rusty - this prompt mostly originated from thinking something about the House of Habsburg and how they were originally from Switzerland, though I don't think they would really work for this, haha.

(But I bet that Stéphane wouldn't be too fussed about the details - even if he was, like, a great-great-great-grandson of a cousin of a half-brother of some irrelevant duke, he'd be all "JOHNNY JOHNNY I AM A PRINCE!" XD)

Research/Historical Context Anon here - My idea actually started out on a Hapsburg note too. But then I had to go do research and realized that the Portugal route might be more workable. And then I found out about the affair with a diva who had a Swan-bed, and well, yeah. There are some things that just do the tinhatting for you.

Research/Historical Context Anon again - Just fyi, the Swan-bed was bought by Universal Studios to use as a movie prop. Of course, if the author wants to include, that little bit of historical accuracy can surely be ignored. ;)
