It's a number of years in the future, and Evan hit the dark side; he got what he wanted and ultimately wasn't happy, and he rebelled and turned to drugs and went on a downward spiral. Now he's trying to piece his life back together and either he's in financial trouble or just needs the company of someone who isn't going to drag him back down, and he's lost most of his old friends. Somehow he ends up in New York, and at Johnny's door.
Johnny, meanwhile, is leading an okay life, though not a dream-come-true one; he's still trying for a breakthrough in the fashion industry; he hasn't been a complete failure, but he has to design skating costumes to pay the bills. He believes himself to have made his peace with his life(whether he has or not is up to you). He's also just adopted an infant daughter(possibly from a Russian or Chinese orphanage?), and he's really happy to have her, but she is making his life more hectic and complicated, and he's adapting to that. If it's just Johnny/Evan friendship he can be happily married(preferably to Stephane, but really to anyone) or a serial dater-and if it's slash, he could still be the latter, but I'd rather Evan not break up any relationships here.
Into this scenario enter Evan. Though he knows it shouldn't, his arrival raises old resentments of Johnny's, as well as questions of if he really wanted what he thought he wanted. He takes Evan in and tries to help him.
