Johnny got out of bed, promising himself dire revenge on whoever was responsible as he made his way into the bathroom, his eyes screwed up against the light. The stupid thing was still going off, even though Johnny had long ago decided it was practically a law of physics that as soon as you actually had to get off your ass to answer the phone, the phone would stop.
He made a face at himself in the bathroom mirror - god, the circles under his eyes were bad - and picked it up. It vibrated angrily in his hand. He had fifty-four voice mails and more texts. As he watched, the count flicked over to fifty-six. "Shit," he said. Should he pick up? He didn't recognise the number that was calling now. It had been a different one a second ago. Maybe of his crazier - no, one of his more sweetly devoted - fans had gotten hold of the number-
His actual home line went off from the bedroom. "This is the worst morning," Johnny told the mirror, and went to answer that instead. He was pretty certain no one had access to his home phone but his circle. "Hello?"
"Johnny," Tara said calmly. That was a bad sign. Tara was never calm. Tara was giggly, bright, cajoling, flirtatious, fun. When Johnny was depressed or having a meltdown, Tara just got earnestly brighter than ever.
"Yes?"
"Don't answer your phone," she said. "Or your door. I don't think you've got a TMZ crew there yet, but I'm pretty sure there'll be one soon."
"God, you sound just like a real agent," Johnny said. "Or like M or something, it's scaring me." Tara didn't laugh even a little bit, and Johnny was abruptly more awake. "What's going on?"
"Get your laptop," Tara said. "You need to see this for yourself. Got it?" There was actual scary command in her voice. He hoped Galina hadn't been rubbing off on her. Ew.
"Got it," he said. "And?"
"Google yourself."
"I'll go blind doing that," Johnny said, but he did it. The first few results were okay - his website, his Wiki page, something called 'The Big Gay Question', but then he scrolled down.

For a second he couldn't breathe, his finger frozen on the scrollpad. His heart kicked with a sudden burst of adrenaline.
"Johnny?" Tara said in his ear. "This is the moment where I need you to laugh and tell me there's no way, ever, it's not possible, and it's a really bad photoshop job, or stunt doubles, or something, okay?" Her calm was starting to crack around the edges and he could hear the panic underneath.
"Have you watched it?" Johnny asked. "Does it look fake?"
"They've only got stills up so far," she said. "The source is bargaining for - Johnny, it's not possible, right?"
Johnny twisted the cord of the phone around his index finger, delaying. "Um."
