Why Don't You Stay
~*~*~*~*~
It was nothing more than the ringing of the telephone that disturbed their peace but Gackt knew what it really meant.
The message was clear in the tone of Hyde's voice.
Apologetic lips slid over his left shoulder, warm breath teasing his skin.
Gackt sighed, tilting his head back enough to analyze the wallpaper, grateful that Hyde was behind him and unable to see his expression.
A tanned arm wrapped around his chest, drawing him back against the older man.
"You could stay." An offer that would go unheeded but still Gackt knew he had to try. Someday Hyde would accept; he only had to wait.
A warm hand cupped his jaw, drawing him into a loving kiss before Hyde pulled away and stood to dress.
Gackt watched silently as the other man pulled his jeans up over his boxer clad ass. Eyed the smooth expanse of wings adorning strong shoulders before they were hidden by a wrinkled shirt.
"Why don't you stay," he didn't mean for it to come out, had never given his offer more than once in a night, but still wished with all his might that Hyde might just say yes.
Dark eyes met blue, a gentle smile spreading across lips that he adored before Hyde turned and walked out of the bedroom.
Gackt didn't move to follow or show the other to the door. Hyde knew the way and it hurt too much to watch the door closing behind the other brunette. He fell back onto his back, staring at the ceiling despondently. Moisture welled up in his eyes and he wiped it away in disgust.
He was a mess, he knew that he would have to get up and make his life presentable again but he didn't know how much longer he could do it.
Hot water felt good on his body as Gackt washed away proof of their life together, wishing the fingers on his skin belonged to someone else.
And the mess of the bedroom, the scent of sex lingering on every surface, it would take longer to be rid of the memory in this place.

It was only the ringing phone that woke him before the sun made its way past the horizon but Gackt knew what it really meant.
The tone of Hyde's voice was clear, apologetic.
Gackt sighed, closing teary blue eyes as he listened to the sweet words coming through the telephone line. He was grateful that Hyde couldn't see the expression on his face.
Finally Hyde's words trickled off, giving him space to reply in kind.
"Why don't you stay."
