Summary - Jack’s more special than we thought
He'd been helping Joe Dawson while moving around Seacover and Canada in general for almost a decade now.
It was the 14th of March, the year is 1996, the weather is slightly cold and it is raining, Methos is at Joe's apartment, meeting with Duncan, Connor and Richie.
The five men are having a little get-together, each brings two drinks they like to share with the other while they talk of the past and what the future may bring.
Lucky for the four Immortals, it is almost, and I do mean almost, impossible for them to get drunk, they can poison themselves, but drunkeness and hangovers are something that they find impossible to get.
The five of them were in Joe's 'Living Room', it was a standard spartan room, two cushy armchairs and a love-seat couch, a birchwood glass-topped coffee table, a black marble fireplace and a rather large and intimidating mirror, a gunmetal grey 42" Plasma Screen High Def LCD TV was positioned in a way to be visible to all occupants and was playing an old movie - Casanova.
Connor McLeod was sitting, more like slumping, in the left armchair, his back was to one arm and his long, lithe legs dangled over the other arm, he protectively cradled a full unopened bottle of Glenmoragie, a half-full bottle of Glenfiddich was in front of him on the table, this Scotsman was protective of his drinks, even though he allowed the others to try them, he would hit them if they insulted the beverages.
Duncan McLeod, Connor's student and Kinsman, was sitting Indian Style on a large cushion, placed carefully on the floor, to the right of Connor's armchair, he carefully held a 3/4 empty bottle of Kavalan a Taiwanese whiskey, a full unopened bottle of Stolichnaya Vodka that he had bought on a trip to Russia twelve years ago, he too was protective of the drinks, though he was the only one who would drink the Kavalan the other's liked the Stoli.
Richie Ryan, Duncan's student and resident 'reformed theif', was copying Duncan by sitting Indian Style on a large cushion, placed on the floor, to the left of Connor's armchair, he held an empty bottle of Smirnoff Vodka in his left hand and an equally empty bottle of Sake, Richie was feeling a warm buzz but nothing like what a human would be feeling.
Joe Dawson was sitting in the right armchaid, his legs crossed at the ankles, he was holding a barely opened bottle of Plum wine in his right hand, he was keeping it away from Richie as the man made attempt after attempt to steal the bottle, there was an empty bottle of ammaretto liquor on the floor next to him.
Methos {me} was sitting, more like lounging or sprawling, on the love-seat, he was grinning as he sipped from a bottle of brandy and held a bottle of Sake to his chest.
The other immortals, being younger than I, had become like my children, and to them I had become their 'father', they grudgingly and reluctantly allowed it.
We were reminiscing, Joe writing happily in his journal as he jotted down the stories that were being tossed around, Connor as a Samurai in Ancient Japan, Duncan as a spy in World War One France, Methos as a Shaman in Early human Africa, Richie growing up on the streets and learning how to steal.
Connor talked about his wife, Heather, the woman he had fallen for just after he had been banished from the Clan McLeod, how he hated not being able to father her children, how he missed her terribly because she had aged and died.
Duncan talked about being banished from the Clan McLeod, his travels around the world, meeting Tessa and falling in love, not being able to father Tessa's children, meeting Richie, loosing Tessa, Richie becoming Immortal and their 'adventures'.
Richie talked about growing up an orphan on the streets learning to fight and steal to survive, meeting Tessa and Duncan, loosing Tessa, becoming immortal and their 'adventures'.
Methos talked about living in the early human settlements, being the village shaman, the wars that took his people, traversing the world, fighting, hiding, tricking the Watcher's as 'Adam Pierson'.
Joe did not speak but he wrote with enthusiasm and vigor, like a child being allowed to watch their favorite Television show or a man marrying the love of his life.
To Methos, this was his home now, no matter how much he dreamed of a man with many faces, of distant worlds, of a blue police box capable of traversing time and space; his heart, soul and life were here now, until he had to leave.
Home is where the heart is? Right at this moment, his heart was telling him that his home was here, with these four men, these three who would live as long as he.
