Ack- that last beat. I read it a couple of times and it gets more and more devastating. Poor Jack. Poor Doctor. It reminds me slightly of the problems that the two of them had in Set in Stone, which is possible my favourite fic of this fandom- except here Jack is enlightened. And he is so Jack here :D

He’s inside my head, Jack thinks, distantly. Hell, the bastard is inside my head, reading my mind!
He’s inside my head and I don’t want him to ever leave there.
I knew this was going to hurt.
It was beautiful and heartbreaking seeing Jack's thoughts as he finally had his moment with the Doctor.
And the morning after... *pokes at broken heart*

Was it?
I've been re-reading a manga yesterday that's made me immune - I overdosed on angst. :P (There must be a reason why I love it so much.)

Not the most angsty thing you've ever written. Hell, it doesn't even make your top twenty, but it still broke my heart!

(Teeny tiny beta: Yet again, the worlds are lost... Did you mean "words," here? And than it sound to his own ears. "Sounds"?)
This is such a beautiful line:
The words are ready to leave but they can’t, for the Doctor’s lips close over Jack’s and his tongue pushes them back into his throat.
And this is heartbreaking:
In the morning, he tries not to open his eyes.
(Although it doesn't have to be. He hasn't opened his eyes yet :) )

Thanks for the comment!
Versus Time is actually progressing quite nicely. Which is a lie - I feel like it isn't pregressing at all. But at least I've written a lot.
