Title: Smoke Author: vail_kagami Beta: nightrider101 Challenge: Amnesia Rating: R Spoilers: None Warnings: Graphic violence Summary: He doesn't know who he was or where he came from, nor does he really want to find out.
“Yes.” The answer is nearly inaudible, breathed at the story ground. You feel vague relief when you hear it and have not enough strength left to remember why you shouldn’t.
“Yes. You’ve won. Just let him go. Leave him alone and I’ll…”
Ouch. Each flashback was felt like a knife twisting in my poor heart. The impression this story left is both heartbreaking and very creepy.
I couldn't imagine every having to through something so terrible. I can't blame Jack for wanting to forget. Hopefully in this new life he'll find peace.
I can't imagine what life must be like for the Doctor now. *sniff*
You're not afraid to tackle stories that would make me run screaming in the other direction. Not only do you write them, but you handle it with a certain skill and ability that's all your own.
I suppose if he ever remembers (and he will, eventually) he won't be particularly happy. Neither with the Master nor the Doctor nor himself. Thanks for commenting.
You evil master of pure evilness! That broke my heart and I don't want to think longer about that deal the Doc had to accept to get Jack free. Jealous Master... Now the Doc is bound to him. ;__;
Yeah, it was brilliant though. No other than you is able to write such dark intensive stories. Keep up your writing :)
I adore all your stories, naturally, but this one has earned a special place in my heart.
This story is incredible.
It was sparse and efficient and every single sentence gave added meaning to the fic as a whole.
This was so beautifully crafted - delicate, painful, careful; each section a well-aimed dagger right into the heart. Reading this was not unlike admiring intricate clockwork; perfectly made, everything perfectly fitting.
This is one of the best fics I have ever read - above even your usual amazing fare!
Definitely one for me to re-visit and admire most frequently in the future. :D

And for betaing, naturally. Whatever would I do without you?

Hm...post unbetaed fic? :P
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Like you could get rid of me now. :D

The POV and tense shift between sections distinguishing past events from present was very effective. Like two different stories, two different lives.

As much as I hurt for the Doctor, I think I hurt more for Jack. Because he doesn't remember. And if he ever does? *winces* Oh my poor squashed heart.
