Annual New Years Meme

1.What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before?
2013 was a good year for my little business, and I am really happy I am working doing what I love! I also came out as Asexual, went to a meetup to make new friends and I did the Polar Bear Dip on January 1st!

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My resolution was ONCE AGAIN to get our finances in order so that we can 1. Move, 2. Get a new car that I actually fit into and 3. Can afford to live a normal life, and to do more and see more, really live my life. Our money is a little bit more in order than last year, mostly because I am making more, so we're doing better. This year, my resolutions are to be more kind and loving to other people, to get out more and make friends, to reverse my insulin resistance and fatty liver with a low carb diet, and to trust God and His plans for me.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Jay's cousin Justine had Madelyn, my cousin Amanda had Kacey, and tons more found out they were pregnant.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
This year was very rough. My Uncle Keith died in January, and about a week later, I found out that my Brother, John, had passed away. Then my Aunt Beats died, and my Cousin Wilda. Finally, my Uncle John found out that he had 4th stage colon cancer, and he passed away in September. He was my Dad's only Brother, so my Dad's parents and siblings are all gone now.

5. What countries did you visit?
Canada and the US, as always. We went home several times this year - in March, we went home because my Mom's Husband, Jason, almost died from a flesh-eating virus inside his body. Thankfully he recovered. In June, we went home to see my Uncle John for the last time. In September, we went for his funeral, and finally, we went home for almost a week for Christmas, which was lovely.

6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
An emergency fund. That's about it. I'm pretty happy with what we have.

7. What date(s) from 2013 will remain in your mind?
I don't think any dates really stick out.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably my little Etsy shop doing so well! I made more than Jay did in December! :)

9. What was your biggest failure?
Jay and I started (seriously) trying to conceive last January. We'd been trying nonchalantly since July 2012, but we got serious about it in 2013. And we tried. And tried. And tried. No pregnancy. It didn't help that I only ovulated 5 times this year. So hopefully, next year, I'll ovulate more.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
*sigh* Yes. Starting in March, I started having fainting spells. We've only recently discovered they are caused by my extreme anxiety disorder. I also found out that I have insulin resistance, but I can reverse it. :)

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I got a little electric fireplace for Christmas, and I loooooove it!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My Mom was really great this year.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My sister, James and Jason. I mean, Jason seems to have matured and is a lot nicer than he used to be. But the way the three of them pick on Nicky is horrendous. They are bullies, and he is only 9 years old. My poor bubby. Also, Rachael. Whenever Rachael gets a new "best friend," she dumps me. Then she comes running back when that friend doesn't stay close. I'm done with that, and I'm distancing myself.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, food, bills, of course. The basics.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going home for Christmas, going to see the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special at the theatre, seeing the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug...that's about it, I think. LOL

16. What song will always remind you of 2013?
Probably "We Can't Stop" by Miley Cyrus.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? The same! I'm happy, happy, happy. :)
richer or poorer? Richer! For once! Things are starting to look up. :)

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Saved money, as I do EVERY year. Hey Stephanie, take a hint.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
No regrets again!

20. How did you spend Christmas?
We spent it in Ohio with my family, and I got to see my family for almost an entire week. I got to play with Nicky, Anna and Esther, see Noah, and Amanda, James, Jay and I played Cards Against Humanity and laughed until we cried several times. :D It was great.

21. What was your favorite present this year?
The electric fireplace. LOL

22. Did you fall in love in 2013?
Still madly in love with my Husband. :D

23. How are you spending New Years Eve this year?
Just FYI, that flying lantern from last year didn't go so well! LOL It was too windy, and eventually the whole thing caught on fire and almost burned me! LMBO Anyway, this year, we are enjoying some Pizza Oven, cheese dip from El Camps, a bottle of sparkling grape juice and are probably going to watch some old home movies. Sounds like a good time to this introvert!

24. What was your favorite TV programs?
Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, The Big Bang Theory, Supernatural. :)

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Nope! I don't hate anyone, as usual! I don't hate people!

26. What was the best book you read?
I read several, including "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children," which was not what I expected, and "The Never List," which was good. I'm reading a book on Demonologists right now.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Ed Sheeran and Mariana's Trench - SO GOOD! I LOVE MT!

28. What did you want and get?
I wanted Jay to pass his test and become a licensed mechanic, and he did! :D

29. What did you want and not get?
A baby.

30. What was your favorite films of this year?
Warm Bodies was SO good, and so was Now You See Me, The Heat, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Gravity and The Conjuring!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
We didn't do much - I turned 32, and we just ordered Montanas to go and stayed home. It was still fun. :)

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I think this year was good, aside from the deaths.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
More vintage looking, still jeans, but lots more color, and I learned a lot of vintage hairstyles and makeup that looks great! <-- Same as last year. Always the same. lol

34. What kept you sane?
God and Jay! As always! <~~ Agreed!

35. What will you do different in 2014?
I'll take control of our finances and get our future more planned out, for things like retirement, savings and especially children. <~~ Ha ha, once again, from last year, but fits perfectly for this year!

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I am still fighting for gay rights.

37. Who did you miss?
My bubby Nicky, all my friends and family in Canton, as always.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I met lots of nice people, but no one I am close to. Maybe 2014 will be better.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013.
Always trust in God, never forget He will get you through. <--- Remember this!

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"I'm out of touch, I'm out of love, I'll pick you up when you're getting down. And out of all these things I've done, I think I love you better now." - Ed Sheeran, Lego House
