Most Girls
I have an issue.
According to this photo, most girls are average, weak, dependent, mediocre, predictable, and followers. I have an issue with that. I really do.
I'm not like most girls because I wear band shirts, jeans, hate doing my hair, don't wear make-up, shave every few weeks maybe, would rather sit in a pub than dance in a club, and would rather go to concerts than go shopping. And yet, I've heard girls who do all of that say that they're not just like other girls too, that's totally okay (Er, them doing those things is totally okay. Them declaring themselves better than other women isn't). If that's what they enjoy, then go for it.
Some girls "aren't like other girls" because they can have emotionless, casual sex and not get attached ~*~just like a guy~*~. Some girls "aren't like most girls" because they only have sex with people they love. Both of those are totally okay, and if that's what you enjoy, then go for it.
Some girls "aren't like other girls" because most of their friends are guys. Some girls "aren't like other girls" because men make them nervous, so they only hang out with a select few.
Some girls aren't like other girls because they like scifi/fantasy/video games. Some girls aren't like other girls because they stay at home and raise their children with everything they have, whereas other girls aren't like other women because they work full-time to support their children, or just don't have children at all.
Most girls aren't like most girls, because, guess what, everyone is different.
I posted to my facebook with the question of "What exactly ARE most girls?" and I got this response. "I'm not like the sluty fake tan over dosing makeup wearing luring cheating hoes" Now, on one hand, I can maybe believe it's tongue in cheek, but since it's from the person who posted the original photo at the top of this page, I'm not entirely sure.
But it's good to know that most girls are lying cheaters. It's also good to know that wearing make-up, fake tanning, fliring with guys, and having sex make you a horrible person. Granted, fake tanning is bad for you, but fuckit, I smoke so I really can't judge on that.
I don't know. I'm not as good as articulating all of this as actual feminist blogs. That's why I tend to link to them and quote them when I'm arguing the dangers of slut-shaming, or, in this case, the internalized misogyny of "most girls are these horrible, shallow creatures, but I'm different. I can't believe how catty and dramatastic most girls are, and I'm certainly not perpetuating any of that cattiness by declaring myself better than other women."
Who cares if you're like most women? Most women are fucking awesome. Yeah, there are a few women who lie, cheat, and are generally shitty people. But guess what? There are a few men who lie, cheat, and are generally shitty people. There are a few trans people who lie, cheat, and are generally shitty people. There are a few genderqueer people who lie, cheat, and are generally shitty people. There are people of every gender (and people who have no gender) who lie, cheat, and are generally shitty people. Gender doesn't have any kind of bearing on what kind of human being you are.
