After a long hiatus from LJ, I started catching up with posts and communities. It's taking a long time, but it was wonderful to see how many good stories have been written (or at least reposted) recently! Two of my favorites are posted on omniocular:

It's good to have you back! I don't seem to have much energy for posting at the moment, but I've been logging on and commenting a bit and had missed you. omiocular is a Very Good Thing in general, isn't it? I don't think I got across in my review how much I approved of your Nott-Robards-Scrimgeour story

Oh, and thank you so much for the Christmas card. I got it late, because I hadn't checked that account for a while, but it was no the less welcome for that. Hope all is well with you.

Yes, sorry about that. First came holidays (which is my excuse for the very late e-card, I swear I'd planned to send it sooner). Then I got sick, which should've been a good excuse to do lots of online browsing, but for some reason reading for any extended period of time made me dizzy. So I was bored and sniffly, and all around miserable company!

omniocular is a treasure. I love knowing that everything posted there is good. It encourages me to try stories I ordinarily wouldn't go for based on the summaries. And those often they end up being favorites. Stopped is one such example; I tend to avoid MWPP-era stories as they're generally too fan-girly for my tastes. But that one was brilliant.

Incidentally, I really don't know why you don't join - you're an excellent writer, whose greatest fault is not writing enough!

Happy birthday for a couple of days ago! so sorry this is late.

would have replied to this when you first posted it but got embarrassed by the praise! I know I don't write enough, and though I'm still really proud of myself for getting ADN finished, I think I'm far away enough from it now to see the faults more than what worked, so I didn't feel I should submit it. Perhaps if some omniocular challenge pieces come out I'll try them

Well, it wouldn't be much fun if our writing were perfect! I like to think I've gotten better over these few stories I've written, though still have lots of faults as a writer. Sigh.

You're doing the omniocular challenge for January, right?

Yes, regular writing practice is the thing. I am doing the challenge for January ::looks sternly at self, or would do if self were visible in computer monitor...::
