Understanding Her
He didn’t understand her... didn’t need to understand her.
Or at least that was what he kept on telling himself every day.
Yet day after day, he would go to her room under the pretext of only coming on Aizen-sama’s orders, and end up staying longer than planned as he listened to her talk.
Of course, he tried to justify it to himself. It wasn’t like he sought her out for conversation. Indeed, he himself never replied with more than five words to anything she said. But the girl wasn’t deterred, and kept talking, rambling really, to him about the fabric of her arrancar clothing, the light of the moon, even how the wrinkles on her bedspread looked like a cobweb weaved by a spider doing gymnastics.
He was not interested in all her random ramblings. Oh no, he, Ulquiorra Schiffer, would never be interested in what a mere human, who was only one step above trash, had to say. He was definitely not interested.
But still, he sat there for unknown lengths of time and listened to her weave her thoughts in front of him. Watched her hands wave around excitedly, as if she was conducting her words to make their way around him and entrap him with their almost child-like simplicity.
He told himself that he only stayed and listened to her because he was trying to understand her. After all, he would not be much use to Aizen-sama as an investigator if he could not even understand this one simplistic girl who was currently sitting in front of him, stitching up a rip on his sleeve that Grimmjow had caused when trying to instigate another fight.
Yes, he thought to himself as he fixed his unblinking green eyes on her bent head and listened with his usual negligent impassiveness, he only came to try and understand her better for Aizen-sama’s sake, there was no other personal reason behind his daily visits.
And he was definitely not grateful to Grimmjow for that rip in his hakama.

My first UlquiHime drabble. Don't know if I captured their personalities correctly, but I could imagine Orihime needing to talk to someone about all the random thoughts that pop into her head and Ulquiorra just standing there not caring. This was the result of me wondering "but what if he does care?". What did you guys think?
