This afternoon I went out to buy a Bible, it seemed a simple thing to me. I went to the local bookstore, expecting to accomplish the task without much fanfare.
But they didn't have Bibles.
They had books about the Bible, and "Catholic" Bibles, and "Womens' Devotional Bibles" and "The Message Bible." But no plain cover Genesis-Revelation without fluff stuffed in between. In all the marketing and catch phrases, the entire point of this particular shelf was missing.
Faith is not prepackaged.
