Another great day!
I don't know if it's because I'm so excited about the holidays or what, but I've just been having great days at work lately!
I basically spent the entire day like a chicken with my head cut off, as I was just THAT busy! All of our conferences are finally starting to take shape, which is great, as my work will finally be noticed, but kind of stressful at the same time.
I was able to sneak out during lunch to pick up one last Christmas gift. The one thing Dave asked for is this special three-sided knife sharpener (exciting, I know), and I ordered it weeks ago on Amazon. For some reason or another, it was held up, and only shipped yesterday, and now it won't arrive until Friday. Which wouldn't be a problem had I not had it shipped to my office, and unfortunately (or fortunately), I don't have work on Friday! I could't bear the thought of giving him only a few small things, so I headed over to the mall in pursuit of a nice shirt or sweater, and instead found this great corduroy blazer from Eddie Bauer:
I practically skipped out the store door as I just know he'll love it!
As soon as I returned to my desk, I found out that the original hotel we had planned on staying at for New Year's no longer had any vacancies! On a mission, Jess and I e-mailed back and forth like madwomen to figure out an alternate plan. We eventually found a room at the Newport Marriott, which, while not as roomy or fun as the original hotel, is still in a great location -- right in downtown Newport, and right on the water.
We also decided to extend our stay to two nights, as everyone has Jan. 2nd off -- I can't wait!!! We've got plans to tour the mansions, which should still be decorated for the holidays, eat at some great restaurants, go wine-tasting at the Newport Vineyard, and to just relax!
